Holly Darling applied for two car seats for her children - usually the foundation only assists children who are 40lbs and over by suppling Radian80s or Regents, however we were fortunate enough to receive a donation of a brand new convertible car seat which harnessed to 40lbs. Since there were no local programs near the Darling family which supplied these lower weight limit seats, we were in the fortunate position of being able to assist the middle Darling child at the same time. Many thanks to Officer Wheeler for his assistance with the installation and instruction session.
Holly Darling talks about her experience: "We have three children, ages 7 (almost 8), 3 and 16 months. Our youngest one was fine as his carseat was already a 5-point harness seat. It was our oldest and middle children who were in need for seats. Our oldest was not even in a carseat - we couldn't afford it. Our middle child was in a 7 year old carseat, which was the kind that just went over her head and buckled between her legs.
The Kyle David Miller Foundation has been an inspiration to myself and my family. They have given my oldest child a new carseat and replaced my middle child's carseat. I can't even begin to explain how much this has meant to us and how much safer my children are because of this. Although it is a terrible thing that happened to their family and we will always keep them in our thoughts and prayers, they were able to start this foundation based on that tragedy. And I personally can't thank them enough."
