I want to thank you guys for raising awareness of the importance of the 5 point harness safety seat. On February 24th, 2007, my husband, our two small children (ages 21 months and 7 months) were on our way home from a family dinner when seamingly out of nowhere, we hit a patch of ice (my husband was driving), slid sideways off the road, hit a four-foot snow drift, rolled twice and then somehow landed on our wheels again. After we landed, my husband and I immediatley took off our seat belts and grabbed our babies, who thank god, we secured safetly in their car seats, and were unharmed.
Earlier that week, I had seen Kyle's video and then became obsessed with the 5 point harness seats. At the time my son, who was 21 months old and 36 pounds, was almost ready to outgrow is Eddie Bauer convertable car seat with the 5 point harness up to 40 pounds. No way is he ready to sit in a booster with an adult belt only! Thanks to Kyle, my husband double checked both our car seatts (Eddie Bauer Convertible and Eddie Bauer Infant Carrier) to make sure they were secured properly. Thank goodness he did...thanks to Kyle, our children were safe the day we had our accident.
Ironically, the morning of the accident, I ordered my 21 month old the Radian 80 car seat by Sunshine Kids...so he will be in a 5 point harness until he is at least 80 pounds.
