On March 14, 2007, I received an email from the Kyle David Miller Foundation telling us that we would be the recipients of two Britax Regent car seats. I had to reread the email; I couldn't believe that we could be so fortunate.
On March 23rd, 2007, we received our car seats and had them installed. I took my children to the Fire Department in Sisquoc, California, where we were greeted by Mr. Eric Daniels.
Mr. Eric Daniels was very thorough, he checked where the air bags were and if they had shut off switches. He also checked in my vehicles manual to double check child seat safety information for my specific vehicle. He started off first by checking my youngest car seat installation and showed me how to tighten in down more so it had even less movement.
He then removed one of the beautiful new Britax Regent car seat and went over all its safety features and the manual before starting the installation. He then had my little girl get into the seat and see where the straps needed to be. He adjusted the straps to her height and commenced showing me how to put the car seat in with the latches and tethers. He removed the head rests on the back of the seat making a better fit for the tether. I didn't even know you could do that. Once the seat was installed, my daughter was put in the seat and the straps were adjusted to correctly fit her. She really likes her new seat and says, "my new seat is very soft."
Mr. Daniels then had me sit my son in his new car seat and I got hands on help correctly fitting the straps to my son and installing his car seat into our van. My son enjoys his new seat, because he can see out the windows better and he also likes how comfortable it is.
Words can't express my gratitude for Mr. Eric Daniels, taking time out of his busy day to help ensure my children were safely buckled, as well as the generosity of the Kyle David Miller Foundation.
Thank you so very much for helping protect my children in these wonderful car seats. God Bless you for educating myself and numerous parents in child seat safety as well as what car seats best protect our children when traveling. You will forever be a big part of our family.
