Christine,
I cannot imagine the heartbreak you have gone through ,and I know you will carry it with you always. The video, your letter, the photo album and the website are all wonderful! I was in a car accident 4 years ago with both of my children, multiple rollover, we were all fine. Thankfully our car seats did not fail. I fell asleep at the wheel, and I think of the what ifs often.
About 3 weeks before my accident I read an artcile in a parenting magazine about the 3 point overhead bar car seats failing in rollover accidents. It recommended anyone who drives an SUV not to use this kind of carseat. It was about 1 1/2 weeks before the accident that I replaced my 10 month old daughters carseat; it may have saved her life.
What you are doing to let others know is so wonderful! We live in a small town where many people do not use car seats or booster seats, often do not buckle their kids "in town" and think I am crazy to be so strict about car seats. There are very few people I trust to drive my kids anywhere. I even had a "friend" who knew my rules, took my child on a 35 mile drive on the highway without a carseat and buckled in with another child. I was furious. She did not understand my "problem because nothing happened", needless to say our friendship has ended.
I cried as I watched the video and read you letter. I know I can never understand your pain, but I send you my thoughts and many hugs. What you are doing in Kyle's memory is wonderful! How is you sweet daughter Katie, I'm sure she must be just devestated to have lost her best bubby. I know my kids would be lost without each other, and they are either best friends or worst enemies depending on the moment.
Again my heart goes out to you and your family!
Hugs,
Anne
